A TRAIL hunting community has raised more than £650 for the Cornwall Air Ambulance.

The Cury Hunt raised the money following its well-attended Boxing Day meet, with a cheque presentation taking place at a recent gathering.

Based in West Cornwall, the hunt holds its regular meets at the Trelowarren Estate, near Garras, close to Helston on the Lizard Peninsula. An estimated 600 to 700 supporters turned out to show their support at the Boxing Day hunt.

Charity bucket collections took place in Helston town centre during the event, helping to boost the fundraising efforts. The funds raised will go directly towards the operational costs of running Cornwall Air Ambulance, ensuring the vital service can continue responding to emergencies across the county’s rural and coastal communities.

The Cury Hunt has supported Cornwall Air Ambulance for around five years, raising more than £2,000 over that period through collections and fundraising activities organised throughout the year.

Geoff Hollow, Master Huntsman of The Cury Hunt, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the generosity shown by everyone who attended our Boxing Day meet and contributed to the collection. Cornwall Air Ambulance is a much-needed service that supports and saves lives in our rural community. We are proud to continue supporting such an essential local charity.”

A member of the British Hound Sports Association, the Cury Hunt practices trail hunting, where the hounds follow a pre-laid trail, in full compliance with the Hunting Act 2004. Members of the British Hound Sports Association sign up to a code of conduct and uphold the highest standards of welfare for the horses and hounds involved in the sport.

The Cornwall Air Ambulance responds to more than 1,000 missions annually. The charity relies on the generosity of vital fundraising efforts to keep the service operational 365 days a year.
