TORPOINT Ferry users face longer queues during tonight’s rush hour after a technical problem has reduced the service to just one ferry.

Tamar Crossings has warned commuters to expect delays while engineers investigate an issue affecting the prow of one of the vessels.

The ferry service is currently operating with one ferry instead of its usual two-ferry service, reducing capacity for motorists travelling between Torpoint and Plymouth.

Tamar Crossings said teams were working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

A statement said: “Due to a technical issue affecting the prow, the Torpoint Ferry service is currently operating with one ferry rather than the current two-ferry service.”

“Customers should expect longer queues at peak times while the issue is being investigated.”

Drivers heading across the Tamar during this evening’s rush hour are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys and expect delays.

Tamar Crossings said further updates would be issued as the situation develops.
