OFFICERS have arrested a 16-year-old boy from Perranporth on suspicion of terror offences.

Officers from Counter Terrorism Policing South West (CTPSW) detained the teenager on suspicion of dissemination of terrorist publications on Thursday, June 19.

A number of searches were carried out at addresses in the Perranporth and Redruth area in relation to the investigation.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “The 16-year-old from Perranporth was arrested on suspicion of dissemination of terrorist publications contrary to Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

“A number of searches were also conducted at addresses within the local area of Perranporth and Redruth in relation to this investigation.”

The teenager has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
