INSPIRATIONAL women from Cornwall will share their extraordinary ideas during the first TEDxPorthtowan on International Women’s Day (Sunday, March 8) at Mount Pleasant Eco Park.

With a theme of ‘Breaking the Mould: Every Generation Empowered’, the event promises to bring together diverse voices across themes of equality, climate, innovation, leadership, women’s health, activism, community and science,

TEDx license holder Anna Lempriere said: “Our selected speakers will share compelling stories and ideas that reflect resilience, creativity and a commitment to shaping a more inclusive, hopeful world.

“Our mission is to create a platform in Cornwall for women from all walks of life and where voices across generations and cultures can be heard, ideas and stories can be shared and collective wisdom can flourish.”

The 11 speakers are:

· Caroline Coleman on a decades-long journey into lucid dreaming and telepathic connection with her non-speaking autistic son;

· Emily Coon on driving sustainability through collaboration and cultural change in the climate movement;

· Jo Davies on advocating for young parent families with passion and persistence;

· Ruth Etches on redefining mental health through functional medicine and integrative psychiatry;

· Caroline Gayle-Dunne on harnessing anger as a transformative force for resilience and empowerment;

· Lauren Gauge on using creativity and performance to reimagine your future self into reality;

· Rebecca Hunt on ancient British wisdom for a hopeful climate future;

· Natalie Nicholas (Natz) on championing women and gender-diverse artists in Cornwall’s music scene;

· Red on reimagining justice through art;

· Dr Lisa Turner on whether AI can expose bullying and microaggressions in the workplace;

· Afnan Towheed A young leader’s perspective on global justice and inclusion.

TEDxPorthtowan Women is sponsored by Planet A, an organisation working at the forefront of climate change mitigation. Attendees are asked to minimise the use of fossil fuels in travelling to this event.
