STUDENTS showed off their surfing talent at an annual school’s surf festival staged in Newquay.
St Columb Minor Academy, Bishops C of E Learning Academy and Newquay Junior Academy were among the local schools represented at the annual Treviglas Academy surf festival staged at Great Western beach.

Teacher Andrew Robey from St Columb Minor Academy said: “The event was a huge success, with the Blue school surf team catching some impressive waves and securing several podium finishes across year 5 and 6.
“Well done to all the competitors and a huge thank you to Treviglas Academy, Newquay Surf Life Saving Club, Newquay Boardriders and all the other helpers for running such an amazing event.”

A spokesperson for Bishops C of E Learning Academy added: “Our gifted and talented surfers from Year 5 had an amazing day on the beach and the waves were great.
“Well done Matas, Rory and Elijah for representing our school so beautifully.”

A spokesperson for Treviglas Academy said: “It was an amazing day down at Great Western beach.
“Our sports leaders put on an amazing surf festival for eight of our partner primary schools. The sun was out, the surf was good and smiles were everywhere.
“We would like to thank everyone who supported with the venue, gazebos and lifeguards.”
