A shop that offers the best of Cornwall has tasted success after receiving a regional award.

All Things Cornwall in East Street, which sells various Cornish products including locally produced groceries, dairy, and butchery, has been named the overall winner in the Taste of the West specialist retailer/deli category for 2024/25.

All Things Cornwall run by Craig Jenkins previously received a gold award in the same category in October.

Taste of the West contacted the business again to announce that they had gone one step further and secured the top award overall, beating strong competition from across the entire South West region.

The judges praised All Things Cornwall as: “A one-stop marketplace for everything Kernow… an abundant and impressive shop. A veritable cornucopia of Cornwall.

“An exceptionally good shop which makes one proud to be Cornish… imagine a mini-Harrods of everything Kernow on the high street in Newquay.”

Mr Jenkins said: “The award is beyond my expectations. We have only been open 18 months. Though entering the competition, I was hoping for some sort of recognition but I didn’t think it would be as the overall winner so I’m really pleased.

“The ethos of the shop is a celebration of Cornwall. I think the perception is we are here just for tourists but that is not the case. We are committed to selling the best of what Cornwall has to offer including meats, cheeses and tea as well as gifts, books, alchol and garments. “

Newquay BID manager Mark Warren said: “Congratulations to an amazing business in Newquay.

“This recognition for All Things Cornwall reflects not only the quality of the products but also the dedication and passion behind the business.

“This is another fantastic award win for the town, and it is thoroughly deserved. Craig works incredibly hard to deliver a brilliant experience in-store and is continually developing his online business too. He is always positive, committed to Newquay, and a real asset to our town centre. Well done from all of us at Newquay BID. Outstanding work.”

Mr Jenkins said: “Hopefully the award is a bit of a boost for Newquay and the shop. Mark Warren works really hard to drive footfall into the town. If we are contributing a bit then that is brilliant.”
