POOL Academy enjoyed a truly memorable moment this month as HRH The Princess Royal arrived by helicopter on the school grounds during her official visit to South Crofty Mine.

The school was honoured to serve as the official landing site for the royal visit, and excitement rippled through the school community as students and staff caught a glimpse of Princess Anne and received a friendly wave from Her Royal Highness.

There was a real sense of occasion throughout the day, with students speaking enthusiastically about witnessing a part of history in their own school field. The event added a royal sparkle to an otherwise normal school day, making it one to remember for years to come.

The Princess Royal’s visit to South Crofty Mine, which sits at the heart of Cornwall’s mining heritage, marked an important moment for the region and reflects the deep historical and cultural ties between the community and the industry.

Nick Ward, principal at Pool Academy said: “We were absolutely delighted to welcome HRH Princess Anne to our grounds. It was a proud and inspiring moment for our students and staff, and one that brought a great sense of excitement to the whole school community. We are honoured to have played a small part in such a significant local visit.
