A main route in Newquay is blocked due to a fallen tree.
The tree came down in Edgcumbe Avenue by the viaduct at about 10.20am.
Pearl Flowerdew who watched the tree come down said it was lucky no one was injured. She telephoned the police straight away to attend the scene but motorists “risked injury” driving under the tree before they arrived.
Police arrived “quickly” to close off the road. Cormac workers are in attendance to clear the tree.

Pearl Flowerdew said: “We watched the tree come down and it was lucky there were no injuries. I stopped vehicles at the traffic lights telling people to turn around but there was some cars driving under the tree from the other direction. Due to the angle that the tree fell it created a arch where people were driving under it before police arrived.
“The police closed the road. We phoned them straight away and they were here really quickly. Cormac are here now clearing the tree.”
Richard Curtis, who owns the adjacent Little Western Railway , added: “A tree has fallen and blocked the main road at Edgcumbe Avenue under the viaduct. The police are on site already but please plan ahead as traffic is now having to go through town instead.”

Inrix, the traffic and travel monitoring system, said: "A3058 Edgcumbe Avenue in both directions closed due to fallen tree from Wildflower Lane to Treninnick Hill."
