THE Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose opened its gates for a special event to say ‘thank you’ to the families of sailors on Thursday, July 24.

The event at Helston was hosted by 824 and 814 naval air squadrons. Visitors gathered at the airfield to see some of the aircraft, meet personnel from across the base, play games and enjoy time together.

A spokesperson for the base said: “The importance of the support of our loved-ones cannot be overstated.

“That's the same for all families, but especially for those with young children, where the demands of the naval service impact on family life.

“So it was a poignant moment for all to invite families to come and see what goes on at the air station.”
