THE Cornish Mini Club’s Riviera Run, which took place at Pentewan Sands earlier this year, raised £4,000 for local charities.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary back in May, the event pays homage to one of the world’s most beloved cars while offering visitors a weekend of activities and entertainment for all the family.

This year’s milestone event proved to be bigger and better than ever before with special features and activities marking the run’s 30th Birthday. The very well-attended family event, near St Austell, gave visitors the chance to see a wide assortment of Mini cars that were gleaming under the sunny skies.

The run features a number of competitions such as rocker cover racing, loudest exhaust and an evening quiz, which all help to raise money for good causes. This year’s event was no exception, achieving a record £4,000 - a significant increase on the £2,800 that was raised through last year’s event.

The £4,000 has been split between five local causes, with £2,000 being donated to Fowey Lifeboat, £500 to Paws2Freedom, £500 to Prickles and Paws Hedgehog Rescue, £500 to RSPCA Cornwall (St Columb branch) and £500 to Mount Edgcumbe Hospice.

The success of the event is attributed to the hard work of planners David and Karen Osborne and the dedication of the CMC members on the ground. Since 2017, the club’s tireless work has helped raise over £14,400 for numerous good causes locally.

With preparations already underway for the 2026 event, which will take place from May 2 to 4, the CMC team have already nominated the charities that the run will be supporting next time out. The charities include Fowey Lifeboat, The Flicka Foundation Donkey Sanctuary and The Noah Jordan Foundation.
