RAF St Mawgan has been helping its community keep fit and healthy.
The airbase welcomed service personnel, families, civil servants and contractors to a vibrant Health and Wellbeing Day at the Atlantic Club on Friday, February 13.
The event brought together a wide range of organisations offering fitness demonstrations, health advice, veterans’ support, financial guidance and signposting to local sports groups and charities.
Attendance was strong throughout the day, reflecting the community’s appetite for accessible wellbeing support.
Representatives included Veterans Regroup, Active Plus, SSAFA, the Military Wives Choir, St Francis Dogs Home, the Station Padre and a host of Armed Forces and community partners. Exhibitors provided information on welfare services, recovery programmes, outdoor therapy, creative wellbeing, financial support and family services.
Active Plus, which uses the skills and experience of injured military veterans to build confidence and motivation in participants from all backgrounds, was among the many organisations engaging with attendees.
Groups and organisations also present included We Are With You for the Armed Forces; Recovery for All; Department for Work and Pensions (Armed Forces Champion) and Jobcentre; Op Courage; Defence Garden Scheme; Wild Art Cornwall; Veterans Regroup; RN FPS; Navy Benevolent Trust; Newquay Orchard; Op Nova; Hugs Foundation; Fighting With Pride; St Francis Dogs Home; Solace in Devon; Military Wives Choir; SSAFA; Padre; RAF Gig Rowing; RAF Cycling, Resettlement, Personnel Support, Air Play, Balance Classes.
Station Commander Wing Commander Helen Simpson said: “Our Health and Wellbeing Day is about bringing people together, strengthening support networks and making sure our community knows exactly what help is available to them.
“We’re grateful to every organisation that joined us and to everyone who took the time to attend. Events like this reminds us how strong and connected our Armed Forces community in Cornwall truly is.”
