PEOPLE who put in a “rock solid” bid could come away as the owner of a former quarry near Penryn.

Cornwall Council has instructed the auction of Chywoon Quarry, Longdowns, St Gluvias.

The site is among 228 lots listed in England by Clive Emson Auctioneers, with the September online auction concluding on September 24. It has a freehold guide price of £50,000 plus.

The quarry comes with a field and a number of dilapidated buildings on a site extending to 0.86 hectares (2.13 acres).

Senior Auction Appraiser Katie Semmens said: “This is an interesting opportunity to acquire a former quarry along with a good-size field and buildings in a rural location.

“Interested parties may see a variety of different uses for the site, subject to the necessary consents.”
