PENZANCE’S Jubilee Pool is in the running for two major awards.

They have been nominated for the Seaside Heritage Network Bucket & Spade Award organised by the Seaside Heritage Network.

Among their rivals for the award are Blackpool Tower, Scarborough South Cliff Gardens, Llandudno Pier, Morecambe’s Winter Gardens and Weymouth’s Clock and Promenade.

The pool is also in the running for the LLM Readers’ Travel Awards - Best Visitor Attraction. They will face competition for some of the world’s biggest sites – and one close to home.

Their five rivals for the award at Rome’s Colosseum, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery in London, Val d’Isere in France and Falmouth’s Trebah Gardens.

Both awards the Jubilee Pool have been nominated for are open to public viewing. Penzance Council is delighted to see the pool recognised.

A council spokesperson said: “This year Penzance Council provided the pool with £40,000 in funding to help with its winter maintenance costs and to fund the PZ Kids Swim Free scheme for all under-16s living in the parish of Penzance.

“We think Jubilee Pool is a wonderful community asset and very deserving of the awards they’ve been nominated for – so make sure you cast your votes!”
