THERE are several opportunities to play an important role in the community, with councillor and funding panel vacancies coming available.
There are currently two councillor vacancies on Truro City Council, due to the resignation of Cllr Karlene Stokes in Tregolls Ward and the non-attendance of Cllr Zach Griffiths in Boscawen and Redannick Ward.
For an election to be held to fill the vacancy, a request must be made in writing (by hand or post) to the Proper Officer, Electoral Services, 0E, County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, TR1 3AY by 10 electors for each ward - otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.
The deadline for such requests is June 5 for Tregolls ward and June 9 for Boscawen and Redannick Ward. If an election is called, it will take place not later than August 7 for Tregolls ward and August 11 for Boscawen and Redannick Ward.
Kenwyn Parish Council is seeking a passionate and community-minded individual to join the Kenwyn Community Fund Panel, which helps to decide how funding is awarded to projects that improve lives across the parish.
The panel plays a key role in ensuring funding supports projects that deliver real benefits to Kenwyn residents, including community, environmental and wellbeing initiatives.
The volunteer role involves attending a minimum of four panel meetings per year, usually early evening; sitting on a panel of seven local people, including three parish council members; reviewing and discuss local grant applications; helping to decide which projects receive funding; and acting as a local advocate for the fund in the community.
Candidates should be resident within Kenwyn Parish, ideally based in or around Shortlanesend and the surrounding area, confident sharing views and working as part of a small panel, and interested in supporting local projects and community development.
Interested parties are requested to email the parish clerk at [email protected].
