AN artwork depicting world leaders Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu is coming to Cornwall — and the public are invited to pin their thoughts on them.

Sculptor Tim Shaw’s participatory installation at The Cornish Bank today [Friday, October 9] will invite visitors to respond to Pin It On Them, recently shown at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

Made from old cloths, stocking and pillows sewn onto steel framework, the soft sculpture depicts Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu in an embrace based on a press photograph of the two leaders shaking hands.

Beneath the figures, charred clothing and a roulette wheel form a stark, unsettling base. As part of the event, visitors can add their own written responses to the work, creating a growing chorus of public voices.

First shown at the 2026 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Pin It On Them addresses political power, war and responsibility. It also asks what responsibility world leaders bear for the continuing suffering and destruction.

“What happened to innocent Israeli civilians on October 7 was brutal, horrific and heartbreaking,” said Shaw. “But this cannot justify the continued level of inhumanity and barbarity that the Israel military inflicts upon the Palestinians. Call it genocide or whatever, the level of death and destruction and depravation speak for itself. Images show a land that has been reduced to dust and rubble.”

Shaw sees public participation as part of the work’s meaning: visitors are invited to respond directly, rather than simply observe.

The event will run from 2pm to 11pm. Entry is free, with optional ticket donations of £2, £5 or £10, with all proceeds going to Médecins Sans Frontières.
