CHILDREN visiting the playfield in Gunwalloe, near Helston, will now be able to enjoy the use of a new sensory board after police help fund it using money seized from convicted criminals.
Neighbourhood officers recently awarded £500 towards the purchase of a colourful, interactive board, designed to provide stimulating and engaging play for children who have learning disabilities.
“The playing fields are a central hub in the community and used by many children, holiday makers and families from across neighbouring areas,” said local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Julia Berry.
“I’m really pleased that we’ve been able to support the local committee in adding this new piece of equipment which can be enjoyed by all. And, that we were able to use ill gotten gains to help fund it.”
Debbie, a representative from the committee in Gunwalloe, said: "With thanks to PCSO Julia Berry for her support, a lovely piece of equipment has been added to the playing field for all to enjoy."
The funds were awarded from the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). The fund contains money seized from convicted criminals who are often those who have caused significant harm in communities.
Police in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly continue to support groups, projects and charities in the local area.
