PLANS are underway to remove derelict boats left abandoned at the Gannel.
Cornwall Council and stakeholders have committed to cleaning up the huge number of end-of-life boats across the county.
Pentire Cornwall councillor Joanna Kenny said: “I was delighted to play an active role in supporting a commonsense and cross-party motion to start trying to control the plague of derelict boats. For me and Cllr Creek that’s down the Gannel.
“I got put in my own little bit in the motion about the waterways not under the control of any Harbour Authority. Frankly to me this is fly tipping and should be treated just as the same way as fly tipping on the highway. It is early days so don’t expect any solutions yet, but it is a first step.”
