PLANS to add 500 more seats at Truro City FC’s stadium are among the latest planning applications that have been submitted to Cornwall Council, writes Lee Trewhela and Ben Howe.

The plan to increase seating at the Langarth ground is testament to the club’s success after their recent promotion to the National League following their title-winning season in the National League South.

The Tinners have made history as the first ever club from Cornwall to play in the National League and have come a long way since they played at Bolitho Park in Plymouth from 2021 until 2024 under a ground-share arrangement with Plymouth Parkway. They then briefly played home games at Taunton Town and Gloucester City before finally securing a return home to Cornwall.

The 3,000-capacity ground at Truro Sports Hub opened ahead of the 2024-25 season and the club has now applied for planning permission to increase seating from 260 to 764 in the North Stand.

It has also applied to relocate uncovered standing stands to the western end with new covering and relocate temporary cabins to the southern end, with additional turnstiles and exits.

Throughout the off season, changes have taken taking place at the stadium which included the construction of a new broadcast gantry. Following the club’s promotion to the National League, the Tinners will now feature regularly on global sports streaming platform DAZN, prompting the need for enhanced media infrastructure.

Truro City’s first competitive home game of the season takes places this Wednesday (August 13) when they open their National League Cup account with a clash against Southampton U21s. The game will kick-off at 7pm.
