PLANS to convert a former guest house in Newquay into a family home have been approved.

Cornwall Council has approved change of use guest house accommodation at Fairview House in Fairview Terrace.

Studio Charette, on behalf of the applicant, said: “The application site is currently arranged as a bed and breakfast guesthouse.

“The applicant is seeking planning permission to convert the existing property back into a single dwelling house to potentially be occupied as a large family house.

“The application is being made due to the applicants having operated the business for a number of seasons and wishing to now retire from hospitality due to poor health.

“They intend to change the property in order to sell it for a suitable family home. The business has been closed since 2010 due to ill health and has been marketed for sale for over seven months with no interest. There is no change to the external appearance of the building. Some minor internal changes may be made at a later date to accommodate its intended use.”
