PLANS have been ‘teed up’ to redevelop the Grade II listed Newquay Golf Club building.
A planning application has been submitted to create a balcony at the clubhouse in Tower Road.
LSC Consultancy, on behalf of the golf club, said: “The application is subsequent to the approval and commencement on site of works, which includes a more comprehensive suite of extension works that affect both ground and first floor levels.
“With the commencement of works on site at ground floor level, the 2023 consent is extant, however works to the first floor are not expected to take place until 2027 or 2028.
“It is known that the approved works are not able to be completed under a single construction phase, however the applicants wish to enhance the enjoyment of the club by members until such time that the works can be completed.
“In order to ensure an attractive and functional setting in the interim, the current application seeks to provide a balcony at first floor level that would require minimal physical works to the existing building at this level and would be accessible through a new opening from the restaurant and bar.
“The proposed works, which would take place on the western elevation only, would not conflict with the approved consent in respect of construction.
“The balcony would be able to be dismantled to enable the approved works at restaurant level to be completed in accordance with the approved plans.
“The objective of this statement is to provide a sufficient level of information to aid Cornwall Council officers, Newquay Town Council, local residents and other consultees an understanding of the limited scope of the application, with particular consideration to the more extensive suite of works that have already been approved and commenced on the site, and which will be completed in the future.”
