PLANNING permission has been given for a skatepark, pavilion, a multi-use games area, a football pitch, parking and associated landscape works at Park Gerry Playing Fields in Camborne.
One of ten projects to be awarded Town Deal funding totalling £23.7m, the Park Gerry development is being managed by Camborne Town Council.
Plans have been shaped by ideas and feedback from the local community, and an official turf-cutting event is being planned for mid-August.
Val Dalley, Chair of Camborne Town Deal, said: “It’s great news that work can now begin on what promises to be a state-of-the-art recreational facility.”
“The aim has always been to transform the area into a place where people of all ages can play, relax and connect and, having now achieved planning approval, we’re well on the way to making that happen.
“It’s a significant milestone for Camborne and I’m looking forward to seeing the skatepark being well-used next year.”
