PUBLIC notices cover a range of applications, ranging from licensing applications for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks and other works. Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities. Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Cornwall Council.
Consultations on lithium mine
THE company seeking to build a lithium mine in Cornwall has launched a public consultation on its plans.
Cornish Lithium G5 Limited is seeking to build a 395 hectare mine, known as the Trelavour Lithium Project.
It is seeking permission from the government to undertake the project, which would see the material mined from the ground in the site between Nanpean and St Dennis – an area historically mined for china clay.
The notice states: “The Trelavour Lithium Project is a proposed state-of-the-art facility for lithium extraction, processing, and refining, located in one of Cornwall’s historic mining districts near St Dennis. The site comprises approximately 395 hectares of land located to the north of the village of Nanpean and to the south and west of St Dennis. It lies wholly within the administrative area of Cornwall Council, between the towns of St Austell and Newquay, with principal access via the A30 to the north and the A391 to the east.
“The project will include: mining operations at the Trelavour Pit, processing of lithium into battery-grade products at the Trelavour Processing Plant, mining waste facilities, including the Goonvean and Treviscoe pits, which will be restored using processing waste and additional infrastructure, including pipelines, transport access, and conveyors.
“Consultation on the Project will take place from March 2, 2026 to April 13, 2026. The consultation will be carried out in accordance with the Statement of Community Consultation (‘SoCC’), published in December 2025.
“Copies of the consultation materials, which include maps and a non-technical summary of the PEIR, may be inspected free of charge between March 2, 2026 and April 13, 2026 on the Project website maintained by or on behalf of the Applicant and in local venues.”
More details on the locations of the consultation can be found on the Public Notice Portal.
