A pizza chain is planning to open a new outlet in a South East Cornwall town.
Domino’s Pizza proposes to open at Burley Court in Saltash.
The business has submitted a change of use planning application from a car valeting business to a hot food takeaway for a ground floor unit.
The plans involve the installation of extraction and ventilation equipment, and external alterations including replacement access ramp/steps and entrance doors.
There has been a mixed response to the plans from residents.
Alexander Avis said: “I would not object to these plans.
“It’ll bring more jobs for the local community, as these are quite short for those who live in Saltash.
“It’ll also bring more choice for a takeaway for the people of Saltash, as well as people who’ll travel via the A38.”
Susan Pearce said: “These units were approved for a car showroom. Then they added a valeting service.
“This cannot be changed to a takeaway. There is insufficient parking on the site as all the parking has now been built on.
“We do not need another out-of-town takeaway.”
Saltash Town Council planning committee has recommended the plans should be approved.
Cornwall Council is due to have the final say on the application.
A spokesman for the Pegasus group, on behalf of Domino’s, said: “The application site is not located in close proximity to any residential dwellings.
“The nearest dwellings are situated approximately 100 metres away.
“It is considered that the proposed use in the mixed use commercial and employment area is appropriate and will not cause any harmful impacts on highways safety or result in a parking demand that is harmful to the nearby uses within the wider site, or the local area.
“The proposed parking provision is sufficient to serve the takeaway use.
