CORNISH housebuilder Legacy Properties has started construction on the second and final phase on 40 new homes at The Grange, its development in Goonhavern, five miles south west of Newquay.

The first phase of 30 homes is now complete and fully reserved. Phase Two will complete the wider 70-home community, including a mix of open-market and affordable homes, ranging from one-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom family homes.

Of the 40 homes, 23 will be affordable homes delivered in partnership with Ocean Housing. These will include one-bedroom apartments, two- to four-bedroom houses and two wheelchair-accessible bungalows, available for a combination of rent and shared ownership.

Initial site preparation and enabling works are now underway, with construction beginning on the first homes in this final phase, which are expected to be released later this year.

Homes will be built to modern energy-efficiency standards, with features including EV charging, efficient water and energy systems, and materials chosen to reflect Cornwall’s rural vernacular. Natural slate roofs, stone and smooth render finishes will sit alongside new green corridors, wildflower meadows and enhanced Cornish hedgerows.

The development will also include landscaped public open space, pedestrian links and ecological buffer zones adjoining nearby woodland and watercourses.

Starting construction on Phase Two is an important milestone and allows us to complete the development as originally intended.
