A developer has partnered with Coastline Housing to build 42 affordable homes in a village near Redruth.
An outline planning application for the properties has been submitted with Cornwall Council this week.
Quoinstone Developments Limited has lodged the application in partnership with Coastline Housing with the aim to deliver the project as a 100 per cent affordable housing development providing homes for people within the community on land to the rear of Lannarth Farmhouse, Rough Street, Lanner.
The housing is is likely to be a 70/30 split between rented and shared ownership properties.
The scheme, including a 20-space community car park, would be on a site allocated for residential development in the Lanner neighbourhood Development Plan.
The scheme, on 1.5 hectares of land, would see a mix of one, two, three and four-bedrooms to meet local housing needs, “ensuring affordability and sustainability”. Each new home would have a front garden and private back garden if approved.
The matters of design, landscaping and final layout would be determined at a later reserved matters application, should the proposed outline application be approved.
The intention is to provide a mix of high-quality housing, designed to be locally distinctive, which would blend in with the local architectural style.
“The aim is to retain and reinforce all existing boundary vegetation around the site perimeters and introduce boundary planting between gardens as a way of drawing the countryside into the heart of the development and reflecting the existing field patterns. Green spaces, trees, and natural buffers will be incorporated to enhance biodiversity and provide a pleasant living environment,” adds a supporting a statement.
