POLICE investigating a serious road traffic collision in Falmouth on Wednesday, August 6 are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called at around 6.40pm on Wednesday evening to a report of a road traffic collision involving a red Aprilia motorcycle and a blue BMW 1 series at Grove Place with the junction of Avenue Road, Falmouth.

The pillion passenger of the motorcycle, a 17-year-old male, sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital to receive medical treatment. His injuries are suspected to be life changing and possibly life threatening.

The rider of the motorbike and the driver of the car were not injured.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Road closures were put in place whilst collision investigation work was carried out at the scene. The road was reopened at 11.25pm.

“A 17-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs. He remains in police custody.
