PEOPLE who have placed memorials at a Newquay beauty spot are being urged to remove them before they are confiscated.
Cormac states existing memorial items at the Rose Garden in Trenance Gardens will be removed on or after Friday, February 27.
The Cornwall Council owned civil engineering and maintenance company has appealed to people to refrain from placing memorials, plants or cremated remains in the Rose Garden as they can bring disease or pests into a garden, depending on where they have come from, and interfere with the existing planting schemes.
Cormac states removed items can be collected for a limited time and that any memorials put into the Rose Garden after February 27 will be removed without notice.
A spokesperson for Cormac said: “The Rose Garden is maintained as a space for relaxation and enjoyment for all visitors.
“The Rose Garden is not a designated burial ground and the laying to rest of cremated remains is not permitted.
“Memorial items like plaques can interfere with maintenance works and add clutter to the site.
“Please be considerate to other visitors, volunteers and our staff by not scattering ashes on-site.
“We welcome applications to donate a bench or tree planting in a park or garden, so please get in touch if you would like to commemorate a loved one in this way. We can also share further information about burials at Cornwall Council cemeteries upon request.
“Existing memorial items in this area will be removed on or after February 26.
“Anyone who is the owner of any items, please remove them before this date to ensure they are not lost.
“Items will be made available for collection, by arrangement, for a limited time upon removal. All new memorials following this date will be removed without notice.”
