Awards were presented to celebrate 20 years of police community support officers in Devon and Cornwall.

Assistant Chief Constable Jim Nye said: “I was so proud to meet PCSOs who have been in the force for 20 years as we marked 20 years of Police Community Support Officers being established in Devon and Cornwall.

“I was overwhelmed to hear their incredible stories of community work and bravery.

“I’d like to thank our PCSO family for their hard work and dedication – you are often the first point of contact within your community and being at the heart of our communities is something which you can be proud of as we continue to keep our counties amongst the safest in the country.”

New Chief Constable Will Kerr presented long service awards and celebration certificates to PCSOs to acknowledge their 20th year.

They were Anita Parry, Newquay; Alison Relf, St Austell; Wendy Christophers, St Austell; Graham Wade, St Austell; Rebecca Di Quirico, Camborne; Julia Berry, Helston; Mark Richards, Penzance; Andrew Sells, Penzance; Jeremy Kewn, Penzance; Richard Hill, Tregony; Andrew Tonkin, Penzance; Nicola Payne, Crediton; Peter Sobye, Wadebridge; and Darren England, Honiton.

Four PCSOs were nominated for national awards including Beverley Faull, based in Camborne, for equality, diversity and inclusivity; Shaun Harvey, also based in Camborne, for bravery and Shirley Graham, from the Isles of Scilly for lifetime achievement.
