The England Athletics grant takes the total amount raised to £17,500, around 70 per cent of the maintenance project’s target.

A number of fundraising events are planned for the winter as the Par Track team strive to reach their £25,000 goal.

A spokesperson for Par Track said: “We’re delighted to announce that Par Track has secured a £5,000 grant from England Athletics through their Facilities Improvement Fund.

“This fantastic funding will go directly towards our £25,000 project to deep clean and re-line our athletics track, helping to keep it in the best possible condition and ensuring it can continue to support athletes, clubs, schools and the wider community for years to come.

“This takes our fundraising total to around £17,500. That means we’re now around 70 per cent of the way towards our target, which is an incredible achievement.

“A massive thank you to England Athletics for their support and for recognising the importance of investing in facilities like Par Track. We’re incredibly grateful.

“And, of course, thank you to everyone who has donated, fundraised, taken part in challenges, bought raffle tickets or supported our fundraising in any way. We’re not quite over the finish line yet… but we’re getting closer.”
