A COUPLE have been left devastated after their home in Tregurrian near Newquay was destroyed during a blaze.

Sean and Brad Marles Newman only have the work clothes they were wearing after their static caravan at Penvose Farm was gutted by flames on Tuesday, September 15 at about 11am. They arrived home to see the fire brigade tackling a fire, which was already well out of control.

Sean, who work works at a nearby hotel, and Brad, who is an estate agent, watched on in disbelief as their home and all of their belongings were burnt to ashes. Fire crews took more than two hours to bring the blaze under control, which damaged caravans on either side.

Sean and Brad are particularly worried as they still have not been able to locate their cat called Diego who was at home before the fire broke out. The couple, who are both aged 26, have had to move into temporary accommodation before they can find somewhere permanent to live.

Relatives have launched a gofundme titled ‘Help our family rebuild after devastating house fire, to help Sean and Brad get back on their feet. The money will be used to replace clothing and essential items. So far £787 has been raised toward the £4,000 target.

Lanna Joe, who launched the gofundme, said: “Sean and Brad have lost everything. The fire has left them with only the clothes they have on their back.

“Thankfully, nobody was physically hurt, and we are incredibly grateful for that. But the home has been completely lost, along with belongings, possessions and irreplaceable memories that can never be replaced.

“Me and my family have been living on and off in this van for years so it’s truly heart breaking to see a place we all dearly love be gone forever. We are also unsure where their cat is at this time.

“The appeal has been launched to provide a little bit of support to help them rebuild their home. This home was so much more than four walls. It was a place we all called home at one point, a place filled with years of memories, family moments, laughter and love. Seeing it reduced to nothing has been incredibly difficult for all of us.

“Any money raised will go towards essential clothing and belongings, temporary accommodation and living costs, replacing necessities, and eventually helping him find somewhere safe and secure to call home again.

“We know times are difficult for everyone, so absolutely anything people can give, no matter how small, would mean more to our family than we can put into words. People who aren't able to donate but are able to highlight the situation would help us enormously.

“We would also like to thank the fire services for all they have done and everyone who has been supporting our family, and especially for helping us hold onto hope while we also continue searching for their beloved cat.”
