Newquay Leisure World is holding an open day to give people an opportunity to try out its activities for free.

People are being offered to take part in a range of activity taster sessions on Saturday, January 13 from 10am to 3pm.

There will be the water-based classes in the swimming pool, Zumba, functional fitness, power pump, spin, fitball and circuit training. Gym tours will be running throughout and, from 12noon to 2.30pm, there will be free access to the gym equipment.

A free senior morning for those aged 55 and over offers tea, coffee, biscuits, board games and the chance to socialise.

There will also be free health checks from 10am to 11.30am, followed by a senior kettle bells class from 11.30am to midday.

Operating under the Better brand, GLL is a not-for-profit social enterprise that runs Newquay Leisure World on behalf of Cornwall Council.

GLL Senior Manager Amelia Kitchen said: “Now is the perfect time for getting fit and trying something new.

“Leisure centres are a great place to make new friends and GLL was founded on the principle of helping to improve the physical, mental and social well-being of local communities.

“We have excellent facilities at Newquay Leisure World and, as a staff-owned company, our team are fully invested in giving customers the best experience possible, whatever their age or previous experience.

“Kerri, our Healthwise facilitator, will be doing blood pressure and body analysis tests at our senior morning and Louie, our gym instructor, will be running a junior functional fitness class in our superb outside gym from 10am to 1045am.

“All activities are free and, whilst we encourage people to pop in on the day, pre-booking is recommended.

As part of the winter warm spaces campaign, the centre will additionally be available for those in need of refreshment, company and a warm shower on the day from 1.30pm to 3pm.
