A NEW Sunday lunch group, welcoming members of the Oddfellows Friendly Society and their guests, has been launched in West Cornwall bringing good food and great company to the table.
Inspired by the long-running success of a similar group in Plymouth and South East Cornwall, this new gathering aims to foster friendship and connection in the local community.
The group’s first meeting took place at St. Michael’s Mount Inn in Barripper near Camborne, where attendees enjoyed a hearty roast dinner, complete with all the trimmings, and plenty of lively conversation.
At the close of the meal, Bill, representing the Plymouth and Truro Oddfellows, offered heartfelt thanks to member Jan for organising the inaugural event.
“Jan has done a wonderful job bringing us all together today,” Bill said. “It’s this kind of community spirit that makes Oddfellows so special. We’re already looking forward to the next one.”
He then presented Jan with a bouquet of flowers, which was met with a round of applause from the group.
The next Sunday lunch at a different venue is scheduled for late November, and all members and guests can look forward to another welcoming and enjoyable afternoon.
