A NEW audio club is being launched in Newquay for visually impaired book lovers.
The first session will be held at Newquay library on Thursday (September 18) between 2pm and 3pm.
Beatrix Love, who is organising the group, said: “Participants will need to be over the age of 18, able to climb one set of stairs, as unfortunately there is no elevator at the venue, and have a print disability.
“This disability can be anything from dyslexia through to total blindness. We will be choosing a different book every month from the RNIB Talking Book Library and then discussing the book the following month.
“I also hope that the sessions will allow members to form a VIP community, supporting each other with hints and tips for coping with their condition and it may lead on to other events, such as a lunch club or walking group. Interested parties will need to contact me in the first instance so that I can make sure there is a place available for them as space in the library is limited and, also, to register them for the Talking Book service.”
To book a place on the group telephone Mrs Love on 07378809993.
The sessions will be held every third Thursday of each month following the launch.
