NOAH Law, MP for St Austell and Newquay, has called on Cornwall Council to put commercial thinking at the front and centre of any plans to redevelop the former General Wolfe pub building in the centre of St Austell.

The council has called for expressions of interest in transforming the rundown building off Truro Road.

Mr Law, has welcomed the start of the expressions of interest process, saying: "By far the ‘least worst’ option is a community-led or socially-minded developer with the right financial and planning support – which I have offered to help secure – to get a project into a workable proposal for housing for local professionals.

“It’s important that expressions of interest are credible and commercially viable, with the majority of the funding clearly identified.”
