MP Noah Law, as part of his efforts to improve St Austell town centre, is asking local people for their views.

The Labour MP, who represents the St Austell and Newquay constituency, has officially launched his pledge aimed at helping to revitalise the centre of St Austell.

Mr Law held a drop-in event in the town centre at which he highlighted the work he has already done, in conjunction with other people and organisations, to support the town, including setting up a community land trust, St Austell CLT, and working to try to tackle anti-social behaviour.

The drop-in also focused on what should be done about the Earth Goddess sculpture in Aylmer Square which has sharply divided opinion since it was put in place in 2022.

People at the drop-in shared their opinions and the MP is encouraging more input.

He said: “There’s still time to give your views on how we can improve St Austell town centre. If you haven’t already, please fill out my survey – https://survey.labour.org.uk/noahlawtownspledge – to share your ideas and get involved in doing your bit for the town.

“I am fighting to transform the fortunes of our part of Cornwall and in order to do so I need the buy-in of the community.”

The survey also covers the issue of vape and alcohol shops and people are asked if they like the Earth Goddess. They are also asked if they would be interested in joining the community land trust which aims to turn empty and rundown properties into affordable homes.

Mr Law said: “The government has just announced new funding to bring high streets like St Austell back to life through community ownership. I want to hear your thoughts on my work to help revitalise St Austell town.”
