A MISSING man was discovered in Porth after a major search was launched in the early hours of this morning (June 30).

The man was found by a police dog handler on Porth Island at about 1.40am after emergency services were scrambled 40 minutes earlier.

Newquay and Padstow Coastguard search and rescue teams and Newquay RNLI Lifeboats were tasked to assist Devon and Cornwall Police with the search. The ambulance service also attended.

The teams were able to assist the man to a place of safety and hand him over to the ambulance service.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were assisted by HM Coastguard and RNLI colleagues in the search for a missing man in the Porth area.

“The man was located at around 1.40am and the incident was resolved safely.”
