What a joy it was to see our town buzzing with activity last weekend.
The Crantock Street Garden’s Big Lunch brought neighbours together over shared food and laughter, while Trenance School’s Huer to Harbour Fun Run saw families and runners of all ages enjoying our stunning coastline. These events remind us why Newquay is such an incredible place. Our strong sense of community, beautiful surroundings, and the enthusiasm of residents and visitors alike.
The fun doesn’t stop there. This weekend, we have two more fantastic events to look forward to. The Summer Solstice Fayre at Newquay Orchard promises live music, local crafts, and seasonal celebrations, while Trenance Cottages’ Community Day offers a chance to explore our heritage with family-friendly activities.
Both events are perfect opportunities to support local groups and businesses—I hope to see as many of you there as possible! At last week’s Community and Tourism Committee, we tackled several key issues, but one topic stood out: proposed signage from the Duchy that referred to our town as ‘Nansledan and Newquay’. Let me be clear—Nansledan is a thriving part of Newquay, not a separate entity. Our town’s identity matters, and we have made it clear that any suggestion of rebranding is unacceptable. Newquay’s name, history, and community pride are not up for negotiation. As always, it’s your involvement that makes our town so special. Whether attending events, volunteering, or simply supporting local initiatives, you help shape Newquay’s future. Let’s keep working together to ensure our town remains vibrant, welcoming, and unmistakably Newquay.

A fine week of weather ahead with light SE winds, and temperatures of almost 30 degrees.
A few cuttlefish are being caught in the bay, and plenty of small mackerel from boats and off the shore. There are a couple of angling boats for sale as well. This Sunday is the CHSW charity gig race at 2pm, which is always well supported. No band this Saturday at Rowing Club.
