There’s a definite ‘back to normal’ feeling across Newquay now. With the children back at school and a distinct autumnal chill in the air, our town has returned to its calmer, more sedate rhythm after the summer buzz. For me a sense of sadness for the summer has left us but excitement as we get our town back and hopefully get to enjoy some of our most beautiful natural environment whisky it is at least warm enough.
My first full week back since returning from family holiday was packed with purpose. I held meetings on the future of Trenance Boating Lake and continued vital discussions on securing fairer funding for both Newquay and Cornwall. A significant highlight was working with stakeholders to secure a much-needed home for a family of constituents who were facing the very real threat of homelessness.
Housing remains one of the most critical issues we face. Contrary to some national debates, the core of our local crisis is a severe lack of truly affordable homes, exacerbated by high levels of second home ownership. My focus remains firmly on tackling this local challenge and delivering for our community.
I heard this week of the news that Cllr Christine Parsonage has taken a period of leave and I do extend my well wishes to hear for a speedy recovery.

An unsettled start to the week again with heavy rain at times. It gets slightly better from tomorrow onwards. This weekend is the annual trip to Scillies by the Rowing Club. The first race was in 1963. Newquay Gig Championships have been cancelled for two weekends owing to the weather. The next date is 27/28th hopefully. No band this Saturday in Newquay Rowing Club.
