What a privilege it will be to represent Newquay at the prestigious South West In Bloom awards in Torquay this week.
I will be joined by the incredible team from Newquay in Bloom, whose dedication to planting, maintaining, and tidying areas across our town is nothing short of inspirational. Our ‘Bloomers’ are the unsung heroes who add so much colour and pride to our surroundings, and it was a joy to celebrate their hard work on a regional stage.
I have everything crossed that we can bring another consecutive gold award home to Newquay. We will release the news as soon as we hear. Please consider popping along to a volunteer event soo. They’d love to see you and any help is always welcomed.
This weekend, I’m thrilled to be celebrating the 60th anniversary of Newquay Hockey Club at their gala event. Grassroots sports are the bedrock of our community, and we must do all we can to ensure these vital clubs thrive for generations to come. This commitment is precisely why I have led the Town Council into discussions about protecting sports facilities for the long term, such as at the Godolphin ground. I want to be very clear that our sole motive is to safeguard these precious community assets. Finally, don’t forget that the consultation for Newquay’s first-ever central play park at Mount Wise is live. Please share your feedback and let us know what you and the young people in your life would love to see in that exciting new space.

After a windy weekend it is much quieter now with light winds and dry. A big spring tide today, 7.6 metres. Fortunately no swell. The harvest festival went well in aid of theRNLI. There was a good turnout and the event raised £3,000. There are still a few boats for sale, commercial and pleasure. Also two new boats have been bought. No band this Saturday at the Rowing Club.
Thought for the Week: “You’ll be needed when you have what’s needed.”
