It was a pleasure to join the Treloggan Residents’ Association for their AGM last week. As both your mayor and Cornwall councillor for Trenance, it was a valuable opportunity to provide updates and, most importantly, to listen.
I must extend my sincere thanks to the outgoing chair, Lucy, for all her dedicated work. I also offer my warmest congratulations to Julie Beeson on her new appointment as chair, I very much look forward to working with her. I hear the frustration felt by many over the perceived lack of investment in our area in recent years.
I share your desire to see our community thrive, and I am committed to the hard work needed to reinvigorate our part of Newquay. Positive action starts with us, and I’m thrilled to invite everyone to a wonderful community event next week. On Sunday, February 18, we will be planting 500 trees in the space between the viaduct and the Trampoline Park.
This is a chance for all generations to make a lasting, green improvement to our environment. Invites are with local schools, and it promises to be a perfect, rewarding half-term activity. I do hope to see many of you there.
Speaking of half-term, if you’re looking for other free activities, don’t forget our fantastic town-wide mural trail. It’s received brilliant press coverage and offers a great way to explore Newquay’s creativity. For even more ideas, our superb Library and Visitor Information Centre is the place to go the team there has all the details on events happening across the week.

Another changeable week ahead. Today is probably the best.
There will be a change of wind direction at the weekend, coming from the north east, which is colder.
A couple of boats have gone to Wadebridge boatyard for maintenance, Another in Padstow.
The gig Treffry is looking good. It is halfway through being painted.
This Saturday Avalon is playing at Rowing Club at 9pm.
