A MAN has sustained serious injuries after he was assaulted in Newquay town centre on Sunday night.

Police have reported that a man in his forties was taken to hospital after he was attacked in East Street at around 7.50pm.

A 46-year-old man from Newquay was arrested on suspicion of assault.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers were made aware of an assault on East Street, Newquay, at around 7.50pm on Sunday, August 10.

“One man, age in his 40s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains.

“A 46-year-old man from Newquay was arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody.

“Officers are carrying out enquiries and ask that anyone with information which may assist the investigation contact us by calling 101, via our website or visiting the public enquiry office quoting reference 50250207332.”
