A Love Island contestant was among the line up who tackled Newquay’s famous big wave spot the Cribbar.

Laura Crane, aged 23, took off on four 18 foot waves at the notorious reef break on Tuesday, February 7.

The professional surfer, influencer and model from Devon was among a number of surfers who took advantage of the Cribbar awakening in recent days, which include Rob Fowlie, Kam Matthews and Seth Woolley.

Laura is among the first female surfers to have ever ridden the Cribbar.

The professional surfer, influencer and model from Devon took part in the fourth season of ITV2 dating show Love Island.

Laura competed at a national level in surfing for most of her teens and now uses her 70,000-strong Instagram following as a base to work with multiple brands as a model and so-called influencer.

But she states in a previous interview that surfing is still the main priority — and modelling allows her to "keep the surfing dream alive.

"Laura's biography says she has been surfing since the age of 11 and since then surfing has taken her around the world, she blogs about her adventures everywhere she goes. 

She has represented Great Britain three times and has been British Champion four times.Laura came fifth in the ISA Europeans in 2013.Laura has modelled since the age of 13 when she first signed with long-term sponsor Billabong.

She has been signed to Models1 in London for the past seven years and is passionate about giving girls the right body image, and finds great pleasure modelling for brands as an athlete. Laura also took part in the fifth season of Ninja Warrior UK as a celebrity participant.
