During the last four weeks the Lions Club of Truro have been running Christmas hamper draws at two locations in Truro - Lemon Street Market and Pannier Market.
Lions president Geoff Kaye wrote: “Even though we could only do half the number of shifts at Lemon Street Market, due to circumstances beyond our control, we concluded a successful campaign raising a great amount of just over £2,000.
“Originally, we had pledged £3,500 to all the local good causes we supported but fortunately we are still able to keep these commitments, supplemented by funds already raised from previous fund-raising efforts.
“This was only possible by the wonderful support from the people of Truro and surrounding areas.
“A big, big thank you to all who visited us and very generously entered our draws, especially during such difficult financial times for our country.

Many thanks again to Waitrose and Tesco who generously donated significant amounts of goodies for the hampers and Roach Fine Foods who jointly funded with us two £30 meat vouchers.
“The Pannier Market have been especially supportive this year allowing us to do extra shifts to replace days lost at Lemon Street Market.
“Many thanks to John Roach and E Cigs R Us for their great support!
“Finally, we couldn’t achieve our results without our Lions partners and friends, who were on duty at the markets.
The draws for the winners of the hampers were made on December 17 and the two first and two second prizes have since been delivered to the winners.
The winners were:
Lemon Street Market
First: Brian Stevens of St Ives, who is a volunteer hospital driver
Second: Ampera Heras of Truro, who is an NHS nurse.
Pannier Market
First: Mary Bedford of Fowey.
Second: Sally Hudson of St Ives.
