Two charities have ensured Newquay’s not for profit community radio station is well equipped.
Newquay Lions and Towan Blystra Lions came together to provide Radio Newquay with funds for additional equipment to enhance its live outside broadcast facilities.
The two Lions clubs shared the £500 cost between them from their community accounts which members of the public contribute to throughout the year to support local good causes.
Radio Newquay, which can be heard on FM and online throughout the Newquay and district area, has been broadcasting for over five years and has built up a large following of listeners.
One of the station directors and presenters, Sarah Bunt, showed off the equipment to some of the Lions at the recent charity Newquay Beer Festival at Hendra Holiday Park, where Radio Newquay broadcast from live on the Friday afternoon.
Sarah said: “The Rodecaster is a fantastic piece of equipment that allows presenters to do all the work they need.
“Having this kit will mean other equipment will be freed up for more people to use as we are looking to bring more volunteers from the community on board and train them to help us enhance our coverage of news and events.”
