A Newquay charity has made a £2,000 donation to the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust.
Newquay Towan Blystra Lions provided the money for two new tailormade flying suits.
Lion president Jill Bunt and fellow Lions visited the Cornwall Air Ambulance to see the suits.
They also gained an further insight into the service which is currently the subject of a 10-part documentary series ‘Cornwall Air 999’ being shown on the Quest channel every Friday at 9pm.
Jill said: “We actually made the donation a few months ago but the two flying suits had to be tailormade and this has been the first opportunity we had to join the crew and see them first-hand.
“Cornwall Air Ambulance means so much to the residents and visitors of our county and we have regular contact with the charity to establish if there are specific pieces of equipment that we can fund to help in their life-saving missions.”
Cornwall Air Ambulance were recipients in 2012 of one of the first major grants which Towan Blystra Lions made after they formed. At that time they purchased a specialist laryngoscope which cost £4,500 and this has been a key piece of equipment which has been used to help patients.
