THE town library in St Austell is celebrating its 65th anniversary in early June.
The project to design and construct the building was an award winner in 1960 and the library now has listed building status.
As part of the library’s anniversary celebrations, SALSA (St Austell Library Support Association) is hosting a talk by Samantha Barnes-Knight, from Historic England, on the conception and construction of the library.
This will take place on Tuesday, June 3, at 6.30pm, with tickets costing £2 and needing to be pre-booked.
Then on Friday, June 6, between 2pm and 4pm, the celebrations will continue. The Velvets will be singing at 3pm and cake will be available.
Anyone who fancies wearing 1960s clothes will be very welcome.
