AN iconic building in Newquay that provides a beacon for the community was illuminated to raise awareness for a charity.
The Huer’s Hut was lit up pink and blue to shine a light on Baby Loss Awareness Week on Wednesday, October 15.
There were thousands of other buildings around the country lit up in the same colours to remember the families that have suffered this terrible trauma.
Newquay Lions Club provided the lights for the occasion, which were purchased from money donated by Zoe Dixon, in memory of her late husband, Terry, who sadly passed away due to pancreatic cancer.
The charity working alongside Newquay Town Council, and with the support of the Huers Hut custodian, Jon Goodman, is able to light up the building for any recognised charity or organisation wishing to mark their special day.
The Huer’s Hut was lit up green to highlight Mental Health Awareness week on Friday, October 10.

A spokesperson for Newquay Lions said: “True service begins with compassion — and that includes caring for our own minds and the minds of others. On World Mental Health Day 2025, Lions stand together to break the stigma, promote understanding, and build communities where mental well-being is a shared priority.”
