More than 350 people packed into Truro Cathedral for the opening of the 2023 Cornish Wildlife Photography Competition exhibition.

The exhibition, which features 30 winning and finalist images from the competition organised by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, will run until Friday, November 17.

Category winners were announced at the launch on October 6 and now people can select their own favourite image for the ‘People’s Choice Award’.

The 2023 Cornish Wildlife Photography Competition was a celebration of the county’s wildlife and natural beauty and featured five categories: animals, underwater world, plants and fungi, people in nature, and wildlife on my doorstep.

There was also a ‘young photographer’ category for those under-18 years of age.

The category winners were Ben Hancock-Smith for his picture of a common frog on the Penryn Campus, Martin Stevens for a small-spotted catfish taken in Falmouth, Barrie Walker for a porcelain fungus at Trevaylor Woods, Georgie Bell for a picture of walkers on Bodmin Moor, Dave Taylor for a honey bee approaching lavender at Pellet and Sam Baker for a kestrel flying over Gunwalloe Church Cove.
