A family fun run was held on Saturday to celebrate Newquay’s fishing heritage.
More than 250 people took part in the Huer to Harbour Pilchard Run, which was organised by Trenance Learning Academy.
They jogged the mile-long route from the iconic Huer’s Hut, along King Edward Crescent and Fore Street before arriving at Towan Beach. Many runners wore fancy dress for the occasion, which included pilchards and crabs.

The harbour came alive with a vibrant family fun day, packed with lively stalls, football games, dancing and live music. Newquay Samba Band and Trenance school choir were among the acts who performed throughout the day.
Newquay Fire Station attended with one of its appliances for people to have a look around.
A spokesperson for Trenance Learning Academy said: “The community spirit was alive and thriving for the Huer to Harbour Pilchard Run.
“Once again, the day went above and beyond all expectations.
“A huge thank you to our amazing team who never fail to inspire us. Their dedication to our children and families shines in everything they do.
“With passion, creativity and laughter, they turn every adventure into something truly special. To our fantastic pupils, supportive families and wonderful community thank you for showing up, getting involved and helping us create something very special for the families of Newquay.”
