Cornish holiday letting agent Aspects Holidays have donated £10,000 to Devon and Cornwall Food Action (DCFA).
DCFA collaborates with food producers and supermarkets to redistribute surplus food to those in need.
Through various means-tested schemes, they work with local groups and organisations to ensure the food collected reaches those living in food poverty across the whole of Devon and Cornwall, including St Ives, Camborne, Penzance and Falmouth.
The money donated by Aspects Holidays will be used as part of the Cornwall Provision Scheme, helping to establish three new satellite hubs in Cornwall.
DCFA’s main base is in Plymouth, making it logistically challenging to support people in west Cornwall.
Permanent hubs in locations such as Camborne, Redruth and Falmouth will provide the community with access to the food charity on a regular basis.
Aspects Holidays commercial director Mandy Spencer commented: “We have worked with other amazing providers, over recent years, that offer vital help to those families that need it, often just to provide the basics that most of us take for granted. It’s a sad reality for many people in our region, so we are grateful to have been able to support DCFA who are not only helping address the issue of food poverty, but by doing it in a way to also reduce food waste, which I feel is a major factor in helping both the people and the planet.”
Aspects Holidays is a Cornish holiday letting agency with offices in Hayle, St Ives, Penzance, Mullion, Falmouth, Mevagissey, Perranporth, Newquay, Wadebridge and Bude.
